Creating a Basement Hang Out
Challenge: The basement was the current “playroom”. The client wanted to create a new space where her growing kids could hang out with their friends. The space needed to be decluttered, all the toys, games and art supplies needed to be sorted and gone through and it also needed better organizing solutions. The space was very dark, uninviting and had lot’s of unmatched furniture that added to the cluttered space.
Solution: The overall room was painted a light color and all the mismatched old furniture was donated along with excess toys. They purchased new Ikea furniture and organizing bins to give it a modern update that gave the space a light an airy feel. There were 4 zones created for the now teens to have a place and space for everything. (1) “TV Zone” for watching tv and playing video games, (2) “Art Zone” to house art and craft supplies, (3) “Display Zone” for showing off collectibles and (4) “Dance Zone” for a dance and exercise area.
